Prof. Phanikumar S. Mantha
Biography
Dr. Phanikumar Mantha is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Michigan State University, USA. His research emphasizes water quality and environmental flow and transport processes. Recent questions addressed involve fate and transport of chemical and biological agents in different hydrologic units in the Great Lakes region of North America. His research combines data from field observations with computational models to gain insights into complex biophysical processes, make predictions in managing natural resources and frame policy.
Prof. Thorston Wagener
Biography
Dr. Thorston Wagener, a member of the European Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, in January 2021, took up his position as a Humboldt Professor at the University of Potsdam. He is the head of the working group for the Analysis of Hydrologic Systems. Within this group, both empirical and process-based parsimonious models are developed, evaluated and utilized to simulate and understand the water cycle across space and time scales. And, knowledge gaps in hydrology are identified by assessing how knowledge accumulates in datasets, theory and literature.
